PINK ELEPHANT
There's a giant Pink Elephant in the center of the room. No one but you can see it. Others walk around it and talk over it. The elephant rumbles and then trumpets loudly! You're the only one that hears it. "Am I losing my mind?" you ask yourself. "Why can't anyone else see or hear the Pink Elephant when it's right in front of us?"
DENIAL
They see and hear the Pink Elephant, but will not or cannot acknowledge it. They may take one day, or they may not ever. Do not let their refusal to recognize the dysfunction prevent you from pursuing truth and healing.
DYSFUNCTION
Those who know about the Pink Elephant, pretend it is not there.
The only ones who see and hear the PINK ELEPHANT do not want to upset others by acknowledging its presence. So they make a silent vow not ever to mention the Pink Elephant. No one is living in the truth and everyone will suffer.
HEALING
We believe the Bible is the supreme authority of every Christian; therefore, the word of God is where we find the TRUTH and HEALING through faith in Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." In Christ, we find forgiveness, strength, courage, and victory over our past.
Jesus said THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. John 8:32 ESV
Blog by Peggy Knoth
The expression "the elephant in the room (or "the elephant in the living room") is a metaphorical idiom in English for an important or enormous topic, question, or controversial issue that is obvious or that everyone knows about but no one mentions or wants to discuss because it makes at least some of them uncomfortable and is personally, socially, or politically embarrassing, controversial, inflammatory, or dangerous.
It is based on the idea/thought that something as conspicuous as an elephant can appear to be overlooked in codified social interactions and that the sociology/psychology of repression also operates on the macro scale.
